Margie Fergus
Success Story
Seventy-three-year-old Margie Fergus is a retired nurse from Greeley, Colorado, who has been married for 51 years. She and her husband have two children, 11 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren (with one on the way). She enjoys filling her days with cooking, baking, reading, cross-stitching, and listening to music. She also enjoys going on road trips.
One evening while having dinner with her family, Margie tripped over a cat-scratching post and fractured her femur. Thankfully, her family was there to help her get the medical attention she needed.
After initial treatment, Margie chose to receive inpatient rehabilitation at Northern Colorado Rehabilitation Hospital (NCRH), where her husband had previously received care and had a good experience. Margie had faced the challenge of being non-weight-bearing on her right leg since her surgery, so she had to relearn how to accomplish her activities of daily living with this restriction.
During her stay, Margie says her experience has been extraordinary. “Everyone I have come in contact with has been wonderful,” she says. “The therapy program is excellent. The therapists are kind, patient, uplifting, positive, and encouraging.” Margie also says she enjoyed the food and the variety of culinary options.
Margie looks forward to returning home and getting back to her normal routines. She’s excited to be around family again and plans to walk more when her weight-bearing restriction is lifted at a later date.
